Our client, a growing energy-development business, is seeking a hands-on Fractional CFO to lead strategic finance, FP&A, cash management, and capital-raise initiatives during an important stage of growth.
This is not a traditional accounting-focused CFO assignment. The successful consultant will bring a strong strategic-finance background, the ability to build practical financial infrastructure, and experience supporting businesses with significant project-development and financing needs.
Responsibilities- Lead the day-to-day FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, scenario analysis, and management reporting.
- Assess liquidity, runway, and near- and long-term financing requirements across the business and its development pipeline.
- Support an active capital-raise process, including financial modeling, investor/lender materials, diligence preparation, broker coordination, and financing strategy.
- Develop and improve reporting infrastructure to provide clear visibility into operating performance, project economics, and capital needs.
- Partner with executive leadership and commercial teams on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and key business decisions.
- Work closely with the internal finance team, including a Director of Finance focused on project and asset valuations, as well as internal accounting and external accounting resources.
- Evaluate and strengthen finance processes, controls, and use of Net Suite as the organization scales.
- Significant experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Head of FP&A, or senior strategic-finance consultant.
- Demonstrated experience leading or materially supporting capital raises, financing strategy, lender/investor diligence, and cash-management planning.
- Required: Prior experience in renewable energy, energy storage, power, utilities, infrastructure, project development, or another closely related capital-intensive industry.
- Strong FP&A capabilities, including forecasting, financial modeling, management reporting, liquidity planning, and scenario analysis.
- Experience operating in an entrepreneurial, high-growth, or sponsor/investor-facing environment.
- Ability to balance executive-level strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to building models, reports, and processes.
- Net Suite experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the presence to partner directly with senior leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic, commercially minded finance leader to help shape the financial infrastructure and financing strategy of a growing energy-development organization.
