Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join their banking operations team in Mossel Bay . This role is crucial for ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant banking regulations, laws, and internal policies. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to staff on regulatory matters. Working in a hybrid model, you'll contribute to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the bank within the scenic coastal environment of the Western Cape.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance programs and policies aligned with current banking regulations.
- Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance breaches and areas for improvement.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures accordingly to ensure ongoing adherence.
- Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters and best practices.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in banking compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related legal field.
- In-depth knowledge of South African banking regulations, AML/CFT, and KYC requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in risk management and internal controls within a financial institution.
