Tax Consultant

Our client, a prestigious tax advisory firm with a strong presence across Pietermaritzburg, Kwa Zulu-Natal, is looking for a seasoned Tax Consultant to join their expanding team. This role is designed for an expert in tax law and compliance, offering comprehensive advice to a diverse clientele. You will be responsible for managing complex tax cases, developing tax planning strategies, and ensuring compliance with all South African tax legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of corporate tax, VAT, and individual tax matters, coupled with exceptional analytical and communication skills. As this position is fully remote, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa, contributing your expertise to our client's success. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your tax knowledge in a remote-first environment, serving clients remotely and collaborating with colleagues virtually.

• Provide expert tax advice to individuals and corporate clients on a wide range of tax matters.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize returns for clients.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation, including Income Tax, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
• Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, trusts, and companies.
• Represent clients in dealings with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), including audits and disputes.
• Conduct tax research and stay up-to-date with changes in tax law and regulations.
• Deliver presentations and training on tax-related topics to clients and internal teams.
• Manage client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate effectively with other departments to provide integrated financial solutions.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Law, or Finance with a specialization in Taxation.
• Postgraduate qualification in Taxation (e.g., H.Dip Tax, M.Com Tax) is essential.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a tax advisory or consulting role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African tax legislation, including corporate tax, VAT, income tax for individuals and trusts.
• Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly.
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client engagements independently.
