Debt Recovery Officer – Huntingdon (Hybrid)

Huntingdon
Pay Rate: £14.14 per hour PAYE

Contract:

6 months, temporary

Hours:

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (earlier starts considered)
Working Pattern:
Hybrid – Mondays in the office, four days working from home. Additional office attendance may be required.

## The Opportunity

LYNX Employment Services are recruiting an experienced Debt Recovery Officer to join a busy Income and Debt Recovery team in Huntingdon.
This six-month opportunity offers excellent hybrid working arrangements and would suit someone with experience in debt recovery, credit control or income collection, who can confidently manage outstanding payments while providing a professional and supportive customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Manage outstanding debts and support effective income collection.

Respond to customer enquiries regarding overdue accounts, payments and balances.

Investigate account discrepancies and negotiate suitable payment arrangements.

Maintain accurate financial records and process transactions efficiently.

Handle sensitive conversations and complaints professionally, including with vulnerable customers.

Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve outstanding matters.

Manage workloads independently, meeting deadlines and service standards.

Support improvements to debt recovery processes and systems.
## Essential Requirements

Experience in transactional processing and a good understanding of debt recovery procedures.
Previous experience in credit control, debt recovery, income collection or a related role.
Strong customer service, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal sensitively with customers.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and financial administration systems.
Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration, Finance or equivalent, or significant relevant experience.

Desirable Experience

Previous local authority or public sector experience.
Knowledge of Agresso ERP systems.
Understanding of social care charging and financial assessments.
Familiarity with debt recovery legislation and relevant financial procedures.
