Indirect Tax Specialist

We’ve partnered with a tax technology startup to hire an Indirect Tax Specialist, and this is a great next step for SALT Seniors, Supervisors and Assistant Managers from the Big 4 or mid-tier firms.

If you’ve built strong sales and use tax experience in practice and you’re ready to step away from timesheets and billable hours, this role lets you use those same client-facing skills in a fast-growing tech business. You’d be the tax expert customers rely on, working alongside Customer Success, Product and Engineering to help them get their tax right on the platform.

Remote working across the US is possible.

• Act as the tax expert for customers, guiding them through compliance requirements and filing processes.
• Support customer onboarding, making sure they’re set up for success.
• Troubleshoot complex customer issues with the Tax, Product and Engineering teams, and see them through to resolution.
• Turn customer feedback and recurring issues into ideas that improve the product.
• Create customer-facing guides, documentation and best practices.

• 4+ years of SALT or indirect tax experience, ideally gained in a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
• Solid knowledge of sales and use tax compliance, including nexus, registrations, filings, notices and VDAs.
• Experience managing client relationships and explaining complex tax issues clearly.
• Exposure to Avalara, Vertex, Sovos or other tax engines is a bonus, as is experience with SaaS or technology clients.
