Senior Energy Trader

Our client, a dynamic energy trading firm, is looking for an experienced Senior Energy Trader to join their sophisticated team based in Benoni, Gauteng
. This hybrid role involves leveraging market insights and advanced analytical tools to execute trades across various energy commodities, including power, natural gas, and carbon credits. You will be responsible for identifying profitable trading opportunities, managing risk exposure, and contributing to the overall profitability of the trading desk. This position demands a sharp analytical mind, exceptional decision-making skills under pressure, and a deep understanding of energy market dynamics, regulatory environments, and financial instruments.

• Execute trading strategies for various energy products (e.g., electricity, natural gas, futures, options) in South African and international markets.
• Monitor market trends, news, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities and risks.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the firm's capital.
• Analyze market data, generate trading insights, and communicate strategic recommendations to the trading team and management.
• Maintain and enhance relationships with brokers, counter parties, and market participants.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant trading regulations and internal policies.
• Participate in the development and refinement of trading models and analytical tools.
• Manage trading positions and P&L on a daily basis.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field;
  Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in energy trading, with a strong understanding of physical and financial energy markets.
• Proven track record of profitable trading in competitive energy markets.
• Deep knowledge of energy commodity markets, including drivers, regulations, and trading mechanisms.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent decision-making abilities and capacity to work effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency in trading platforms and analytical software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for a hybrid work environment.
