Senior Auditor; Financial Services

Our client, a prominent financial services group, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Auditor to join their internal audit team. This role is pivotal in assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance throughout the organization. You will conduct comprehensive audits across various business units, identifying areas of improvement and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of audit methodologies, financial regulations, and a keen ability to analyze complex financial operations.

This position requires close collaboration with management and operational teams. The role operates on a hybrid model, allowing for essential in-office fieldwork and team collaboration within our East London office, balanced with flexible remote work arrangements. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring operational efficiency, financial integrity, and adherence to best practices within the organization.

• Plan and execute internal audits in accordance with professional standards and the annual audit plan.
• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management systems, and governance processes.
• Review financial records, operational processes, and compliance procedures to identify inefficiencies, risks, and control weaknesses.
• Document audit findings, develop practical recommendations, and prepare clear, concise audit reports.
• Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely and effective implementation by management.
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of audit methodologies and tools.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations effectively to senior management and audit committee.
• Conduct special investigations or reviews as requested.
• Stay current with relevant industry trends, regulatory changes, and audit best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIA, or CISA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal or external auditing, preferably within the financial services sector.
• In-depth knowledge of auditing principles, internal controls, risk management frameworks, and financial regulations.
• Proven ability to plan, execute, and report on complex audits.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings effectively.
• Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid team structure.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Experience in data analytics for audit purposes is a plus.
