Job Description

Salary £28,142 - £32,061 per annum | Permanent, Full-time | 37 hours per week | Bamber Bridge, Lancashire.

Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highways related schemes across the County made up of 4,300 miles of road, 151,000 streetlights and 2,955 bridges.

We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Highways Enquiries Officer Grade 6. The role is home based with occasional travel to County Hall or the Cuerden Depot in Bamber Bridge. Our normal business working hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, ensuring adequate telephone coverage during these times.

You will be the lead officer managing multiple districts, administering the highway casework of county council members and MPs, and administering customer complaints and FOI requests. Working alongside technical officers and other members of the District Lead Team, you will ensure that issues are thoroughly investigated, and outcomes are communicated in a customer‑focused and timely manner.

Key Duties
  • Support the District Lead Team in administration of the highway casework of county council members and MPs.
  • Provide effective and pro‑active communications to stakeholders in advance of highway works.
  • Help ensure Freedom of Information requests are dealt with promptly.
  • Assist the Complaints Officer to deal with Highways Complaints received into the team following the guidelines of the formal complaints process.

Full training and support will be provided, but the post holder needs to possess a core set of skills.
