Position Overview
Warwickshire Police is recruiting Armed Response Vehicle Officers (ARVO) for the Operational Firearms Unit based at Leek Wootton Police Headquarters. ARVOs will be responsible for responding to armed incidents across the county, supporting roads policing, OCG enforcement, and proactive policing through ANPR‑based patrols. The role includes a flexible 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 12‑hour shifts for eight weeks followed by two weeks of training.
Responsibilities- Provide a rapid response to armed incidents within Warwickshire.
- Support other policing functions such as roads policing, OCG enforcement and proactive patrolling.
- Participate in planned deployments and assist with tactical options for pursuits and county‑lines operations.
- Maintain mandatory training hours and attend scheduled training sessions.
- Serve as a team leader during both planned and spontaneous incidents.
- Assist in the development of firearms and policing skills for career progression.
- Substantive Constable with a Home Office or British Transport Police force, or serving in such a force.
- Current Authorised Firearms Officer, trained to the National ARV role profile.
- Ability to pass and maintain the Fitness Test to level 9‑4.
- No outstanding disciplinary or integrity issues.
- Completion of the probationary period with the current force.
- Advanced police driver with TPAC certification.
- Current Advanced Driver Seat Closer (OFC) role profile.
- National Firearms Instructor, Firearms Tactical Advisor, or close protection officer.
- Advanced ARVO with CBRN uplift training.
- Salary range: £31,164 – £50,256 per annum.
- One‑off transfer payment of £1,000 upon successful transfer.
- Annual Target Variable Payment of up to £1,500 for AFOs; £750 for OFCs.
- Use of force gym facilities and active sports & social club.
- Opportunities for role progression to PC OFC, close protection officer, or National Firearms Instructor.
- Training support for TPAC and additional firearms training where required.
