Salary: $2,192.42 - $2,614.01 bi-weekly as per the Bylaw Enforcement Officer Classification within the C.U.P.E Collective Agreement.

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator for Field Operations, in strict accordance with by-laws and established procedures, utilizing conflict resolution, customer service skills, problem solving, critical & independent thinking and by-law interpretative skills; the Bylaw Enforcement Officer performs bylaw inspections, educational, and regulatory work related to specifically but not limited to Neighbourhood Liveability and Vacant Buildings bylaw. This position promotes and maintains compliance with municipal by-laws such as:
Neighbourhood Liveability By-law 1/2008;
Vacant Buildings By-law 79/2010;
Community Safety Business Licensing By-law 91/2008;
Graffiti Control By-law 204/2007; and other community standard by-laws which address property standards and neighbourhood conditions, community.
- Conduct inspections to verify and satisfy appropriate legislative and regulatory compliance.
- Inspect or conduct detailed investigation of alleged municipal bylaw violations and determine compliance, determine the validity of violation complaints, issue verbal or written warnings, issue common offence notices and/or recommend/issue remedy orders.
- Conduct patrol assignments to observe, collect and record evidence.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and prosecution data on inspections carried out and make court appearances, as required.
