A vacancy has arisen within the Public Protection Support Unit for a Review Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to support a wide range of portfolio work including Domestic Abuse, Adults at Risk, Stalking & Harassment, Harmful Traditional Practices, Serious Sexual Offences, Child Vulnerability and Violence Against Women and Girls. Working as part of a friendly team, you will be based at Surrey Police HQ, Mount Browne, Guildford.
Some travel around the county of Surrey may be required.
The role involves reviewing live and historic investigations and incidents within the wider Public Protection portfolio relating to the above portfolios. There will be a focus on ensuring high standards are maintained regarding the safeguarding of primary, secondary and tertiary victims. You will identify and elevate investigative and safeguarding risks, providing a high quality and professional service to those investigating Public Protection offences.
The core working hours are Monday to Friday day shifts.
Key Responsibilities- As the successful post holder you will be responsible for ensuring that Public Protection investigations are conducted to the highest standard.
- You will need to identify risks with safeguarding or the investigations themselves and raise issues to your supervisor.
- You will be identifying best practice in conjunction with national guidance and helping to inform on changes to legislation and practice.
- You will be quality assuring against force policy regarding statutory crime recording requirements.
- It is essential that you possess a good knowledge of criminal law and procedure, with specific experience relating to Public Protection Offences being desirable.
- You should have experience in criminal investigation techniques and of managing criminal investigations.
- You should have a good knowledge of safeguarding and risk management, being able to identify risk, vulnerability, omissions and also best practice.
- You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as you may be required to produce comprehensive reports.
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Office would therefore be most beneficial.
- You will need to be a strong team player but also able to work independently.
- You will need to be able to prioritise competing demands whilst at the same time be able to react to fast time requests for specialist advice and support.
