Renewable Energy Policy Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Renewable Energy Policy Advisor to contribute to their policy development initiatives. In this hybrid role based in Port Elizabeth , you will research, analyze, and advise on the evolving landscape of renewable energy regulations, incentives, and market structures. You will work closely with government agencies, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to shape effective policies that support the growth of clean energy.

The position requires a blend of independent remote work and collaborative sessions at our Port Elizabeth office, allowing for both focused analysis and dynamic team interaction.

• Monitor and analyze national and international renewable energy policies , legislation, and regulatory frameworks.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations on policy development and advocacy strategies to relevant stakeholders.
• Conduct research on the economic, social, and environmental impacts of various energy policies.
• Engage with policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives to articulate policy positions and foster dialogue.
• Prepare policy briefs, white papers, and presentations to communicate findings and influence decision-making.

• Advanced degree in Public Policy, Environmental Law, Economics, or a related field.
• Substantial experience (5+ years) in energy policy analysis , advocacy, or regulation, with a specialization in renewables.
• In-depth understanding of the South African and global renewable energy markets and policy drivers.
• Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
• Strong networking and communication skills, suitable for both remote engagement and in-person meetings in Port Elizabeth .
