Advocacy Officer

Our client is seeking a passionate and driven Advocacy Officer to join their fully remote team. This role is crucial for advancing our client's mission by influencing policy, raising public awareness, and mobilizing support for key social issues within the Soweto community and beyond. You will research critical issues, develop advocacy strategies, and engage with policymakers, community leaders, and the public to drive meaningful change.

As a remote position, you will leverage digital platforms and communication tools to amplify our client's voice and impact effectively.

• Develop and implement strategic advocacy campaigns to address identified social issues.
• Conduct research on policy issues, gather data, and prepare advocacy materials, position papers, and policy briefs.
• Engage with government officials, policymakers, and community stakeholders to promote our client's agenda.
• Organize and facilitate advocacy events, workshops, and public awareness initiatives remotely.
• Monitor legislative and policy developments relevant to our client's mission and communicate key updates.

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Sociology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or campaign management.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
• Strong understanding of policy-making processes and government relations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting, and to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders in Soweto .
