About the Role:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality management system (QMS) within the clinical laboratory. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), the Joint Commission, and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). The QA Supervisor will monitor laboratory performance, implement quality improvement initiatives, and provide leadership in promoting a culture of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Will:
  • Maintain the laboratory Quality Management Program (QMP) in accordance with NJDOH, CLIA, Joint Commission, and NYSDOH regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and accrediting standards.
  • Prepare the laboratory for regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys; lead audit readiness initiatives.
  • Conduct internal quality assessments, manage nonconformance investigations, and oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of quality activities, proficiency testing results, and compliance records.
  • Review and assess quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) data for accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership and technical supervisors to evaluate test methodologies, validation processes, and performance specifications.
  • Monitor turnaround times, error rates, specimen rejection logs, and other quality indicators; recommend improvements where needed.
  • Support competency assessment programs and ensure staff compliance with annual training requirements.
  • Identify trends in quality metrics and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Participate in risk management activities and support patient safety initiatives.
  • Additional items as designated by laboratory management.
You Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in quality assurance or supervisory role.
  • Proficient in quality management systems, laboratory information systems (LIS) and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
