Job Summary The physical therapist assistant provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
Responsibilities
Provide direct physical therapy following the directions of the physical therapist and in line with the physician's plan of care.Assist patients in relieving pain, developing or restoring function, and maintaining maximum performance.Guide and support patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.Observe and report patient reactions to treatment and any changes in condition to the physical therapist and organization personnel.Instruct patients on the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.Maintain accurate records, including clinical notes and conference notes, in accordance with organizational requirements.Participate in team meetings and ongoing education programs.Perform additional duties as assigned.Job Requirements
Hold a valid license to practice as a PT assistant if licensing is required in the location.Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited PT assistant program and pass the national examination.Maintain current CPR certification.Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and have access to transportation for agency-related travel.The employer for this position is The Pennant Group, Inc., a holding company of healthcare service subsidiaries across the US.
