Inpatient Coding Specialist, Fully Remote CCS or RHIT certified

• Accurately code inpatient records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD
  10CM
  /PCS coding system
• Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies (CMS, OIG)
• Collaborate with team members to meet departmental and accounts receivable goals
• Abstract prescribed data elements from medical records
• Maintain thorough knowledge of encoder systems, IPPS, and relevant policies

• Minimum educational requirement:
  High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent training/experience
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist or AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician certification
• Required coding certificate; must obtain CCS or RHIT certification within 2 years if not certified upon hire
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in inpatient facility coding
• Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Additional certifications such as CCA, CPC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA
• Knowledge of Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and National and Local Coverage Determinations (NCD and LCD)
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with coworkers, management, and physicians
