Computational Biologist – Oregon Health & Science University

Join a multidisciplinary team at the Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care (BCCPC) to advance research on pancreatic cancer development, progression, and treatment response.

Base Pay Range

$61,318 /yr – $79,643 /yr

Responsibilities
  • Develop, adapt, and implement scalable bioinformatics pipelines and theoretical methods to analyze next‑generation genome, transcriptome, and single‑cell sequencing data relevant to pancreatic disease.
  • Engage in algorithmic work, data science, statistical learning, and high‑performance computing on institutional clusters to generate reproducible workflows.
  • Collaborate with wet‑lab scientists, clinicians, computer scientists, and software engineers on all phases of NIH‑funded, corporate, and collaborative grants.
  • Provide documentation, user support, and technical writing for manuscripts, grant proposals, and internal communications.
  • Mentor trainees and staff in computational biology techniques and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Master's or combined Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computational Biology or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in processing and analyzing next‑generation genome (DNA) and transcriptome (RNA), including single‑cell sequencing data.
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python.
  • Experience with statistical methods for quality inspection, normalization, differential detection, and reproducible pipeline development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cancer research experience; signaling network analysis; image processing and analysis pipelines.
Additional Details

Work is generally 40 hours per week. Some evening, weekend, and occasional travel to scientific meetings may be required. Hybrid/remote work is eligible after an initial 4‑month period.
