Job Summary:
Assist physicians with medical procedures in an office setting. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Location: Messino Cancer Centers
Pay Range: $16.91 – $28.20
Primary Key Performance Areas- Perform proper quality control procedures before patient testing.
- Conduct laboratory blood work.
- Perform blood draws and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing; execute technical laboratory procedures accurately and in a timely manner, meeting accrediting agencies’ standards.
- Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
- Send specimens to appropriate outside labs as dictated by the patient’s insurance plan.
- Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists per regulatory requirements.
- Follow the AON patient y and procedure with every patient encounter.
- Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level, and PHQ-9 depression screening per physician request and document in the Onco/EMR system.
- Place patients in the exam room and prepare for the physician in a timely manner.
- Receive lab reports via telephone, the lab system, or fax and document in the patient’s chart or Onco/EMR.
- Assist physicians with procedures including bone marrow, fine‑needle aspirate, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
- Schedule outside testing, referrals to other physicians, and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians.
- Document thoroughly in the medical record chart: tests/treatments rendered, encounter forms for billing, and any quality‑control corrective actions.
- Show physician critical blood counts according to guidelines.
- Obtain relevant scans and CDs and prepare them for physician review.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies; place orders with purchasing as needed.
- Initiate troubleshooting when instruments malfunction and contact central lab or service company if necessary.
- Perform EKG testing where applicable.
- Perform all duties required to keep the laboratory compliant with state and federal regulations; conduct compliance testing.
- Complete required CEUs annually to meet C.O.L.A. requirements.
- Observe safety guidelines and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
- Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations regarding patient care, rights, safety, billing, and collections; adhere to all AON policies, IT procedures, and Disaster Recovery Plan; preserve patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist in training new employees on job duties.
- Be willing to work at any AON location as needed.
- Work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.

Job Qualifications And Requirements Education- High School Diploma or GED
- As required by the state of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations when needed
- Medical assistant in a clinic or physician’s office with ability to perform venipuncture.

Manage time, priorities, stress, and professional development independently; self‑motivated and capable of remote work as required. - Fast‑paced multi‑site adaptability with competing priorities.
- Computer
Skills:- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- EMR proficiency.
- Up to 25% travel.
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime and weekend shifts may be required based on location and operational needs.
