Psychometrist, Delaware Center for Cognitive Aging Research (Limited Term Researcher) job at University of Delaware. Newark, NJ.
The Delaware Center for Cognitive Aging Research (DECCAR) is seeking a psychometrist to administer cognitive tests and health questionnaires to adults who range from having normal cognitive abilities to dementia. The testing is a component of several grant‑funded studies related to cognitive aging and risk of dementia from Alzheimer’s disease or related causes and will take place in person, by Zoom, and by telephone.
The psychometrist will work under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Cohen, a clinical neuropsychologist, and in collaboration with research staff.
The position is offered as a one‑year contract renewable for up to 3 years based on performance and funding availability. It offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement contributions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Conduct in‑person and remote (Zoom and telephone) assessments of adults age 45+, some of whom have cognitive disorders. The assessments include:
- Obtaining informed consent to participate in research studies
- Administering and scoring performance‑based cognitive tests
- Administering questionnaires about health and health behaviors
- Using exceptional “customer service” skills to interact with participants
- Providing feedback to participants about their cognitive test scores
- Scheduling participants for assessment visits, writing thank‑you cards, and processing participant compensation (e.g., gift cards)
- Assisting with record keeping in the research database
- Traveling to Milton, DE 1‑2 times/week with travel reimbursement. Most work (2‑3 days/week) will be in person at UD’s STAR Campus (Newark, DE). Some remote work is also possible
- Collaborating with team members in DECCAR’s Community Engagement Core to conduct screenings in the community to enhance recruitment
- Communicating effectively with a multidisciplinary research team that includes faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students, and community members
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field
- Exceptional communication and “customer service” skills
- Reliable, professional, attentive to detail, conscientious
- Experience with human subjects research
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom; able to learn new software quickly
- Spanish speaking
- Experience with data management
- Experience with Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) software
- Experience with older adults and/or people with cognitive or communication challenges
- Experience administering cognitive tests
