Position: Patient Monitoring Technician (Part-Time)

Overview

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Patient Monitoring Technician.

This position is on‑site in Williamsburg, Virginia. Position Status:
Part‑time (32 hours a week), night shift.

Position Location:

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Standard

Working Hours:

Night Shift - 11:00PM - 7:00AM.

Responsibilities

Observe and report high risk behaviors that may interrupt medically necessary therapies as well as patient safety and/or perceived changes in the patient’s condition to appropriate health care team members. Document the observed behaviors and need for redirection. Function under the direction of the Program Manager and/or Team Coordinator. Promote a positive patient experience by partnering with the patient’s family and other care providers to provide an excellent patient experience.

Review pertinent information and behaviors. Provide patients with explanations as necessary but do not counsel or provide opinions or judgment. Provide on‑site staff with information in a timely fashion when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participate in the collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assure patient environment is safe. Seek assistance with removal of potential safety hazards from the room and report findings to the appropriate staff members.

Maintain patient dignity and privacy. Work collaboratively and professionally with all other healthcare staff and providers, patients, and patients’ family members to ensure an excellent patient experience. Document in patient EMR at a regular cadence per department policies/procedures.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
Certification/Licensure
  • No specific certification or licensure requirements
Experience
  • 1 year of healthcare experience Preferred
