Serves as a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Paramedic in the Army Emergency Medical Service (EMS). Paramedics will perform both basic and advanced life support emergency medical treatment to provide the most extensive pre‑hospital care.

- Responds to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks.
- Assesses condition of patient(s) and selects protocols appropriate to the circumstances.
- Triages patients and notifies medical facilities of possible mass casualty incidents.
- Recognizes, stabilizes, and treats a wide variety of medical emergencies.
- Maintains Emergency Vehicles (EV) readiness and inspects vehicles for repairs.
- Operates EV safely and adheres to traffic ordinances and regulations.
Conditions of employment:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Selective Service Registration statement.
- One‑year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination.
- Specific background investigation and periodic re‑verification due to child interaction duties.
- Annual seasonal influenza vaccinations required; exemptions allowed.
- Immunization screening required;
Hepatitis B vaccination mandatory for all direct patient contact positions. - Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification.
- A pre‑placement medical examination required.
- Testing Designated Position: pre‑employment drug screening and random testing thereafter.
- Rotating shifts, weekends, nights, holidays; overtime possible.
- May be recalled to duty and may assume essential personnel status during emergencies.
- Uniform and protective clothing required.
- Valid state driver’s license and qualify for Army issued license.
- Enrolled in medical surveillance program as required.
- Unrestricted State Paramedic license or valid National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification at time of hire.
- State license holders must obtain NRP within 52 weeks if hired under state license.

Specialized
Experience:
One year specialized experience including:
- Responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries or illnesses.
- Operating a patient transport vehicle.
- Providing advanced life support to patients.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Additional Information- Annual respiratory fitness exam for mask usage.
- Maintain current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Red Cross equivalent.
- Maintain National Incident Management System training within six months.
- Maintain AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Red Cross equivalent within six months.
- Direct Deposit of Pay required.
