Schedule & Location

Part Time: 7 pm–7 am (weekend rotation required). This is an onsite role at Mercy—Defiance Hospital in Defiance, OH.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls as applicable.
  • Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service with compassion.
  • Meet point‑of‑service goals as assigned.
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts and ensure audit standards are met; conduct audits, ensure all forms are accurate and timely, and provide statistical data to leadership.
  • Pre‑register patient accounts before visits, including inbound and outbound calls to gather demographics, insurance, and financial liabilities; collect point‑of‑service collections and manage payment plans.
  • Explain consent forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents such as Medicare/Tricare messages, Observation Forms, MOON form, and consent forms.
  • Review insurance eligibility responses, select applicable plan codes, enter benefit data to support POS collections, and assist with clean claim rates.
  • Screen medical necessity using ADAPTED Beneficiary Notice software, inform Medicare patients of potential non‑payment, distribute ABN and other designated forms.
Experience
  • 1+ year of customer service experience.
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Certifications
  • CRCR required within 9 months of hire (company‑paid).
