Job Description - Mammography Technologist II Floater – TGH Imaging – Brandon Area (250003JN)

This position floats to multiple positions in the greater Brandon Area including Parsons, Riverview, Sun City Center.

Under the direction of a Radiologist, Facility Manager, performs mammography procedures according to ACR and FDA protocols, at a technical level requiring supervision of technical detail. Performs screening and diagnostic procedures using 2D or 3D radiographic techniques, applying ionizing radiation for diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required.

• Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure to be performed and records all reasons for the exam including signs and symptoms.
• Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
• Positions patient and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified body area requested by physician.
• Moves mammography equipment into specified position and adjusts controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
• Processes radiologic digital images and examines them for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
• Verifies that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS; makes changes in billing codes/exam titles as needed.
• Ensures prior studies and current studies are presented to radiologist for diagnostic assessment.
• Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
• Stocks/Orders supplies, checks machine for problems, performs equipment QC when needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a 2-year Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited school.
• Current and valid Florida State License (CRT).
• Current and valid Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry and Mammography (M) registry.
• Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association (CPR).
