Sentara is hiring an Inpatient IV Pharmacy Technician at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Location: Charlottesville, VA.
Sign On Bonus: $5,000 for Qualified Candidates.
Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk).
Shift: Rotating / Primary Days; hours 6am-3pm with occasional evening and overnight coverage.
Weekends: Every 3rd weekend.
Holiday Rotation: Hours primarily day shift (6am-3pm) but may require availability in the evening or overnight to meet pharmacy staffing needs.
Responsibilities- The Pharmacy Tech II Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently.
- Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
- Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care.
- Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required).
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB; Required).
- 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required).
- 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred).
