• Directly coordinate and oversee the flow of medical record coded information for billing and reimbursement
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy, quality, and timely submission of medical data for inpatient and outpatient encounters
• Serve as an educational resource for providers and coding staff regarding coding and documentation
• Assess, design, and evaluate educational programs aimed at improving documentation practices
• Act as a liaison in the coding reimbursement process, facilitating communication and collaboration

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field, Medical Records Sciences, or Business/Healthcare administration, or five (5) years of coding experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement
• Additional specialty coding certification or two (2) years of specialty coding experience required

• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems
• Minimum of five (5) years of specialty coding experience preferred

• Certification in at least one of the following:
  Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), RHIT Certification eligibility, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCP, CCA, COC
• Experience in a healthcare setting with a focus on coding and documentation
