The School of Public Health division of Epidemiology and Community Health is seeking applications for 25-30 part‑time Dietary Interviewers (0001 Casual) to join the Nutrition Coordinating Center (NCC) interdisciplinary team that supports important nutrition research in the US and around the world. (Spanish‑English bilingual preferred)
Starting PayStarting pay:
- $20/hour for non‑Spanish
- $21.50/hour for Spanish/English Bilingual (Verbal Spanish Proficiency test is a part of the interview process)

This position will be approximately 14 hours per week, varying based on incoming workload, and it will include some weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Center OverviewThe Nutrition Coordinating Center (NCC) is a part of the division of Epidemiology and Community Health within the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. The mission of NCC at the University of Minnesota is to support nutrition research and health promotion by providing state‑of‑the‑art software and databases for assessing food and nutrient intake.
NCC has developed and maintains a research‑quality food and nutrient database linked to a Windows‑based interview system, the Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR). The system is designed primarily for clinical and epidemiological studies investigating relationships between diet and health and evaluating interventions to improve nutrition.
NCC develops and maintains Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR), a dietary analysis software program designed for the collection and analysis of food records, 24‑hour dietary recalls, menus, and recipes. Researchers across the US license this program for use in their research studies. The Center also maintains and updates a premier food and nutrient database that is used by researchers and app developers.

The NCC is an interdisciplinary group of individuals including registered dietitians, database scientists, dietary interviewers, and a computer programmer. The Dietary Interviewer will work with the NCC Service Center team which provides a variety of nutrient analysis and data collection services to support the needs of researchers.
Job Duties- 70% - Collect dietary recalls (food intake from the last 24 hours) from study participants in English and/or Spanish by phone using NDSR software program
- 20% - Data entry of dietary intake records into NDSR software program
- 10% - Assist with other administrative tasks to support the daily functions of the NCC Service Center

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of related education and related work experience to equal 4 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field
- Spanish/English bilingual preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of dietary intake of North American adults, teenagers and children
- Experience with nutrient analysis software
- Experience with telephone interviewing to gather survey or research information
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
