EDRP Eligibility
:
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements and submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amount up to $200,000, eligibility period one to five years.

Summary

This position provides mental health services to Veterans receiving Home‑Based Primary Care. It includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of depressive, anxiety, and other disorders, with emphasis on evidence‑based, time‑limited approaches. The incumbent also provides screening for cognitive deficits, behavioral medicine interventions, family support services, and may use Telehealth technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide screening, assessment, diagnosis, and evidence‑based treatment for depressive and anxiety‑related disorders and other Axis I conditions.
  • Deliver sub‑clinical symptom treatment for dysphoria, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, and substance misuse.
  • Screen patients for cognitive deficits and refer for comprehensive neuropsychology evaluation or dementia assessment.
  • Perform capacity/competency assessments and discuss advanced directives and consent.
  • Offer individual, group, psycho‑educational and supportive interventions for patients, families and caregivers.
  • Implement behavioral medicine interventions for pain, disability, sleep problems, weight management, smoking cessation, and medical compliance.
  • Coordinate with the HBPC medical team, facilitate communication among healthcare team members, patients and families.
  • Provide clinical supervision to students, interns, fellows and residents.
  • Work schedule:

    Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.;
    Telehealth as needed.
  • Benefits: 37‑50 days paid vacation, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, 12‑week parental leave, childcare subsidy (up to 25 % of eligible costs), traditional federal pension, 401(k) with up to 5 % VA contribution.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, CPA or PCSAS accredited program. Specialty must align with assignment requirements.
  • Successful completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional internship or equivalent supervised experience. Board certification may substitute for non‑accredited internships.
  • Full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory or District of Columbia (or a temporary graduate psychologist appointment under authority).
  • U.S. citizenship;
    English proficiency per VA Handbook requirements.
  • Preferred: fully independent licensure as a Clinical Psychologist; experience with individual psychotherapy for a wide array of diagnoses; experience in VA PCMHI or similar primary care.
  • Experience levels: GS‑11 (one year experience for GS‑12 level) to GS‑13 (two years experience for GS‑13 level) with clinical, supervision or research background.
  • Knowledge, skill and abilities: application of a wide range of psychological treatments, design and implementation of treatment strategies, incorporation of new clinical procedures, conduct of research, and provision of professional consultation.
