Inpatient Complex/Trauma Coder (Full Time, Remote) – Henry Ford Health

The coding professional will use established coding principles to review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information from patients’ medical records for reimbursement and billing purposes. The coder will accurately abstract data to compile a patient database that supports research, care evaluation, and administrative decision‑making. This function serves as a primary source of data, ensures compliance with coding guidelines, third‑party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.

• Degree in Medical Record Sciences preferred but not required, or completion of a certification program with RHIT/RHIA/CCS Certified Coding Specialist, or RHIT/RHIA eligibility. If eligible, certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment and a signed statement must be obtained upon hire.
• Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience required; additional experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.

• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification.
