- This position pays between $16.50 - $17.65/hr based on experience
*** This position is an onsite role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, OH ***
- Patient Access staff are responsible for assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity / compliance checks, providing proper patient instructions, collecting insurance information, receiving, and processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool while providing excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
- Operates the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
- Adheres to policies and provides excellent customer service in these interactions with the appropriate level of compassion.
- Patient Access staff will be held accountable for point of service goals as assigned.
- Utilizes quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected, conducts audits, and provides statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
- Pre-registers patient accounts prior to patient visits, including inbound and outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and other patient information and collect point of service collections and past due balances, including payment plan options.
- Explains and obtains necessary signatures on consent forms, distributes patient education documents, and administers all required forms for future services.
- Reviews eligibility responses in insurance verification system, selects applicable insurance plan code, enters benefit data to support POS collections and billing processes for a clean claim rate.
- Accurately screens medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software, informs Medicare patients of possible non-payment, and distributes ABN and other designated forms and pamphlets.
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- CRCR Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
