Position Overview
Supervisor Inpatient Coding at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL (remote, full‑time). For Florida residents and selected states (AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, , IN, IA, KS, LA, MS, MO, MT, NC, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WY) this position offers a remote work arrangement. The Supervisor oversees day‑to‑day operations of the inpatient coding team, develops coding policies and procedures, and ensures timely and accurate coding for inpatient facility patient encounters within the specified time frames, along with reimbursement related to ICD‑10‑CM and ICD‑10‑PCS code sets.
This position identifies, develops, improves, and implements code assignment for compliance with MSDRG and APRDRG, as well as other regulatory requirements. It monitors and performs performance improvement for coding productivity and quality, delivers coding staff education and training, and coordinates with Revenue Cycle and Clinical Operations staff regarding coding processes for hospital inpatient facility encounters.

- Minimum six (6) years’ experience in hospital inpatient coding with ICD‑10 diagnosis, procedure codes, and MS‑DRG, inclusive of a minimum of two (2) years as a team/project lead, supervisor, manager or above in a Health Information Management environment; OR Associate degree with eight (8) total years of experience.
- Cert Professional Coder‑Hosp (CPC‑H)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Any certification issued by AHIMA or AAPC, considered by the business as satisfying this requirement.
- Extensive understanding of how data quality affects prospective payment, utilization, and reimbursement in a complex inpatient hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with automated patient care and coding systems.
- Competence with MS Office software.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, AHA coding clinic guidelines, and CMS official coding guidelines.
