Facility Compliance Consultant I - SW – NC Department of Health and Human Services
This is a full-time, home-based position servicing the Columbus, Duplin, Durham, Greene, Harnett, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, Wake, Wayne and Wilson counties region. The Nursing Home Surveyor (Facility Compliance Consultant I) conducts regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state requirements through inspections.
OverviewJob Responsibilities
- Apply laws, regulations, rules, and protocols established by the state or federal government.
- Make decisions in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members or independently.
- Complete survey reports.
Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within 2 years of hire. Occasional weekend and night shift inspections may be required. Overnight stays may be necessary when the nursing home is greater than 60 miles from the home base.

- Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning, and delivery of care.
- Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to compose technical reports using good grammar.
Pay Grade Range: $53,164.00–$93,038.00. Recruitment Range: $53,164 - $69,010.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience – Generalist:
Bachelor’s degree in a health, human service, or educational field and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum Education and Experience – Social Work:
Master’s degree in social work and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or Bachelor’s degree in social work and three years’ experience; or an equivalent combination. Minimum Education and Experience – Dietetics:
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or food service management and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, eligible for registration or equivalent.
- This position is funded in part through federal funds.
- The Division of Health Service Regulation oversees medical, mental health and adult care facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails.
