As a Coding Quality & Education Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate medical coding and compliance while empowering providers with the knowledge they need to deliver top-tier patient care.
Position OverviewThis fully remote role (Florida residents only) allows you to work from home, with occasional on-site requirements at Lee Health locations as needed. You will serve as an internal coding and documentation expert, providing education, training, and audit services for Lee Physician Group.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct medical record audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide direct, real-time coding and documentation support through phone consultations, on-site visits, and virtual training.
- Develop and deliver educational materials, including tip sheets, presentations, and workshops tailored to individual providers or specialties.
- Offer guidance on government and payer reporting policies related to coded data, including level of service, diagnosis, procedure, and diagnostic code assignments.
- Analyze coding data, communicate findings, and collaborate with leadership teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with clinical practice managers and coding leadership to maintain best practices and coding standards.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelors degree in Science or related field (Preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of professional service/physician coding experience (Required).
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Required
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) Preferred (or must obtain within 2 years of hire)
Skills &
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
- Firm understanding of medical terminology and compliance standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively educate and collaborate with providers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
