Responsibilities
  • Administers and scores screenings for clinical interpretation by the SLP.
  • Assists the SLP during assessment of students (e.g., setting up the testing environment, gathering and prepping materials, taking notes as advised).
  • Administers and scores assessment tools (meeting examiner requirements specified in the manual) and uses them to verify competence in administration.
  • Administers and scores progress monitoring tools exclusive of clinical interpretation.
  • Implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs) developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Provides direct therapy services addressing IEP goals for students with disabilities.
  • Adjusts and documents support or scaffolding provided to students to facilitate progress.
  • Develops and implements activities and materials for teaching and practice of skills per the IEP.
  • Provides treatment through various delivery models as directed (individual, group, classroom-based, home-based, co‑treatment).
  • Documents student performance (data collection, calculations, charts, records, graphs) and reports to the supervising SLP timely.
  • Provides teacher or parent coaching (modeling communication strategies, feedback on interactions).
  • Shares objective information about student performance (accuracy, participation, response) without interpretation or recommendation.
  • Programs augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and provides training and technical assistance.
  • Develops low‑tech AAC materials for students, teachers, and families.

  • Knowledge of Special Education practices, rules and regulations.
  • Skill in delivering Speech/Language instruction.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Speech/Language Pathology or completion of an approved training program for Speech/Language Pathologist Assistants, or equivalent from a Nationally or Regionally accredited college/university that meets ARS 36-1940.04 requirements.
  • Ability to obtain Arizona State Licensure as a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant within 60 days of initial employment.
Desired
  • Experience in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations including FERPA, state statutes and rules regarding SLPA education, training, and scope of practice, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Special Requirements
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and clear driving record.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level I – IVPP Fingerprint Clearance card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • CPR certificate and First Aid certificate required within one (1) year of hire.
