As a Behavioral Health Care Advisor specializing in Substance Use Disorders, you will play a critical role on the BCBSMN Care Management team. You will provide clinical approaches that support members from diverse communities, help them discover strengths, and develop unique recovery goals. Your services will assist individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges with culturally sensitive care.
Your Responsibilities- Receive referrals and proactively reach out to members, leveraging clinical knowledge, motivational interviewing, and behavioral modification techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments; gather, analyze, synthesize, and prioritize member needs and opportunities.
- Collaborate and communicate with members, families, or designated representatives on a plan of care that produces positive clinical results and promotes high‑quality outcomes.
- Serve as a member advocate by identifying underlying needs and facilitating referrals to external resources and services in the health care system.
- Independently assess member needs, gather accurate and comprehensive information, research available resources and assistance programs across multiple states and lines of business, and match these resources to support member needs.
- Identify resource gaps internally or for the member, health plan, or provider coverage, and raise these gaps to leadership as appropriate.
- Monitor and evaluate the plan of care over time.
- Ensure member data is documented according to BCBSMN application protocol and regulatory standards, maintaining strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
- Engage providers telephonically to review and understand treatment plans, align with benefits and medical reimbursement policies, and facilitate optimal care coordination and transition of care between settings.
- Attend community events to engage with members.
- Registered Nurse with psychiatric experience or a behavioral health professional licensed to practice independently with one or more of the following licenses with no restrictions: LMFT, LICSW, LP, or LPCC.
- One year of county and/or hospital experience.
- Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and/or public programs.
- Knowledge of the experiences and needs of marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated strong empathy and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.
- Strong computer application skills.
- High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Medical or behavioral health call center or managed care experience.
- Active, unrestricted Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) licensure.
- Process and project management experience.
- 1+ years of managed care experience, such as case management, health coaching, utilization management, or auditing.
Pay Range: $67,200.00 – $89,100.00 – $ per year
