DESCRIPTIONUC San Diego Health is seeking a Hospital Complex Account Specialist to join our nationally recognized revenue cycle team. This is a unique opportunity to work on advanced and life-saving treatments, including Solid Organ Transplant, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and CAR T-cell therapy. What You'll Do:
- Manage end-to-end billing and collections for high-dollar, complex accounts.
- Prepare and submit clean claims for hospital and professional services.
- Resolve denials, submit appeals, and secure payment across government and commercial payors.
- Collaborate with financial coordinators, authorization teams, and clinical staff to ensure accurate billing and compliance.
- Use Epic systems to review accounts, link episodes of care, and maintain accurate records.
WHY UC SAN DIEGO HEALTH?
Three (3+) years of hospital billing and collections experience (acute care preferred).
Strong knowledge of insurance billing rules, UB-04, revenue codes, and coding principles (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Experience with Epic or similar billing systems.
Ability to analyze accounts, resolve issues, and communicate effectively with payors.
Certification in billing/coding (CPC, CPB, HB).
Prior experience with transplant or complex case billing.
Familiarity with payer agreements and bundled payment structures.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $61,116 - $75,982 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $29.27 - $36.39
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
