- Provide statistical support for ongoing clinical research projects and statistical methodological work.
- Perform data analysis from multi-center randomized controlled trials, collaborating closely with the PI (Dr. Phillips).
- Draft sections for trial protocols pertaining to statistics, support data capture forms and database specifications, draft the statistical analysis plan, and contribute to SOPs.
- Respond to statistical queries from collaborators, participate in team and project meetings, write code for data analysis, and perform interim analyses for DSMBs.
- Provide regular reports to funders and stakeholders and perform final analyses at trial completion.
- Collaborate with the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis Biostatistics Core and participate in related biostatistics webinars and training.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams (study coordinators, clinicians, data managers, pharmacists, and collaborators at UCSF and partner sites globally).
- Possibly undertake domestic or international travel for study site visits and conferences, depending on grant funding and requirements.
- Develop methodological work focused on clinical trials to improve TB diagnosis and treatment.
- Contribute to publications and grant applications; opportunities to publish as a first author or co-author depending on work and collaboration.
- Develop knowledge of biology and epidemiology of relevant disease areas through reading, journal clubs, and conferences.
- Location within the US with potential partial remote work and flexible hours; the center advocates work–life balance.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biostatistics (or closely related subject) or PhD in Biostatistics (or closely related subject), or Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics with substantial relevant clinical trials experience
- At least 1 year of practical work experience in clinical trials or related work
- Human Subjects research training or ability to obtain in the first year of employment
- Thorough knowledge of research function and statistical analysis/methodology
- Thorough understanding of statistical aspects of randomized clinical trials
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of statistical software (R or Stata; R strongly preferred)
- Contributions to peer‑reviewed publications and/or grant applications
- Ability to manage day-to-day statistical aspects of a project
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Attention to detail
- PhD in Biostatistics or closely related subject
- Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated clinical research environments
- Familiarity with ICH GCP, FDA/EMA requirements, CONSORT, SPIRIT, etc.
- Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and develop recommendations
- Knowledge of medical terminology with focus on tuberculosis
- Experience with Quarto and Markdown for reproducible reporting of analyses
- Human Subjects research training or ability to obtain in the first year of employment
