Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) is a modern, well‑equipped facility in the heart of historic Bristol.
We are seeking to recruit to this permanent, full‑time post, an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Clinical Technologist to a Band 5 role within the Radiotherapy Treatment Planning team. The successful candidate will have treatment planning experience and will be responsible for producing IMRT, VMAT and SA radiotherapy treatment plans. They will also assist in radiotherapy equipment dosimetry and quality control.
Applicants should have a level of technical competence, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be self‑motivated, hardworking and embrace the Trust values.
Hours of working will need to be flexible and will reflect the needs of the department. Treatment planning staff have the option of working from home, for up to 40% of their contracted hours, once suitably competent.
Main duties of the jobYou will be responsible for producing IMRT, VMAT and SA radiotherapy treatment plans and will also assist in radiotherapy equipment dosimetry and quality control.
Bristol is a large centre with five linear accelerators (including IGRT), delivering IMRT, VMAT and SA , two dedicated CT scanners, high dose rate brachytherapy, Gamma Knife, Ray Station treatment planning system, MOSAIQ oncology information management system and all of the equipment and infrastructure for training that would be expected of a department of this size and complexity.
The successful candidate will work with other clinical technologists and clinical scientists within the radiotherapy physics unit and in collaboration with Clinical Engineers, Radiographers, Clinical Oncologists and Specialist Registrars to enable the provision of safe and effective radiotherapy for our patients.

Person Specification Qualifications- To be on, or eligible to join, the Register of Clinical Technologists, or equivalent registration scheme
- Degree in Clinical Technology (Radiotherapy Physics), Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent
- Understanding of the role and application of Radiotherapy Physics in healthcare
- Clinical experience of Radiotherapy Physics treatment planning, with emphasis on IMRT and VMAT treatment plan production for a range of clinical sites
- Clinical experience of carrying out quality control checks on radiotherapy equipment
- Sufficiently dexterous
- Good numeracy and logical thinking skills
- Able to move dosimetry equipment weighing up to 12 kg multiple times
- Good IT skills and knowledge of computing packages for office use
- Able to focus and concentrate under pressure
- Maintain attention to detail, whilst meeting deadlines with high standard of accuracy
- Good team‑working skills, whilst also effectively contributing
- Flexible, with good organisational skills
