Location: Surgical Specialty Center for Mid‑Atlantic & Advanced Surgery Center of Bethesda, Bethesda, MD (same building).
Facilities: These state‑of‑the‑art, multispecialty facilities perform procedures in Orthopedics, Spine, Pain, and Joint care. There are 2 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms between two offices.
The ideal candidate will either have ASC leadership experience or hospital surgical leadership experience with ASC exposure.
Job Summary- Responsible for a minimum of 2 facilities and directing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of the operating functions, processes, and staff to efficiently provide surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.
- The daily operation of the facility.
- Serve as liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and all departments.
- Report pertinent activities concerning the facility to the Governing Board at regular intervals.
- Appoint a person responsible for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
- Plan services and the operation of the facility.
- Overall manage the Partnership as outlined in the Operating or Limited Partnership Agreement.
- Lead discussion/presentation during Monthly Operations Review call with USPI's Home Office team.
- Deploy, monitor, and ensure USPI's EDGETM is the foundation of operational processes and integrated within the QPI program.
- Ensure compliance with USPI's policies and procedures related to internal controls.
- Develop, monitor, and control staffing needs, operations budget, and capital budget.
- Develop, monitor, and control purchasing plan to stay within budget and maintain compliance with group purchasing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Negotiate and control external contracts with physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, and purchasing agreements.
- Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards.
- Foster positive work relationships among all departments and act as liaison between USPI's Home Office and all staff at the facility.
- Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate departmental policy and procedure manuals.
- Closely monitor variations in financial performance to avoid cash‑flow problems.
- Hold monthly staff meetings outlining goals and priorities.
- Manage employees in accordance with facility policies using fair principles of practice.
- Review employee performance as evaluated by managers, ensuring reviews occur as scheduled or at least annually.
- Review and approve disciplinary action and/or discharge of employees.
- Evaluate management performance and other staff as designated.
- Approve additions or deletions of positions and approve applicants for new or vacant positions.
- Develop employee productivity analysis and assure efficiency of staff levels.
- Implement a program of job‑based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation for all employees.
- Manage all employee files and records.
- Provide educational opportunities for professional staff development and promote positive customer relations.
- Ensure surgical programs and clinical services comply with regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Work with the Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee to evaluate and develop existing and new services.
- Manage the clinical departments of nursing, central supply, medical records, housekeeping, and supervise contracted services.
- Monitor adequate function of surgical and patient care equipment and follow up on repairs.
- Develop and implement a sales/marketing plan and lead the facility's sales team.
- Identify and develop new services appropriate for ASC.
- Foster positive public relations, marketing, and planning.
- Develop, evaluate, and promote a continuous quality improvement program.
- Administer the infection control program and medical staff review of the program.
- Identify and correct quality care issues.
- Develop statistical indicators to evaluate overall operations and quality of care.
