Job Overview

A Vacancy at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Investment in community neurorehabilitation services has enabled a reconfiguration of Clinical Psychology provision now spanning the Mid Notts & Bassetlaw area. This has led to an exciting opportunity for a new Consultant Clinical Psychologist post to lead the psychology input across two community neurorehabilitation teams. The role involves oversight of the neuropsychology service in both the Bassetlaw Long Term Neurological Conditions Team, which includes a stroke service, and the Mid Notts Community Neurology Team.

You will lead a small team including two Clinical Psychology preceptorship posts and facilitate their professional development in Neuropsychology.

You will hold a specialist caseload of complex cases and work as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide consultation, training and professional guidance in psychological/neuropsychological care. Line management and supervision of colleagues in Clinical Psychology across the neurorehabilitation care pathway will also be part of the role. You will collaborate with the senior leadership team to enhance psychological understanding to support the wider system, including a stepped care model.

The post may be offered as an 8b‑8c development role depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of Clinical Psychology Services within Community Neurorehabilitation Services and provide leadership, supervision, consultation and professional guidance.
  • Advise commissioning bodies as required.
  • Mentor and manage preceptorship posts, prioritise workload and manage referrals.
  • Design and implement care pathways and protocols to assess and manage mood and cognition difficulties in accordance with national guidance.
  • Engage with appropriate CPD and networking.
  • Audit the effectiveness of the neurorehabilitation services.
  • Spend time at the bases for each service (Warsop Primary Care Centre, Retford Primary Care Centre), in addition to patient visits and remote working.
  • Plan, manage, lead and ensure the delivery of specialist psychological and neuropsychological services in line with national guidance for adults affected by neurological conditions including stroke.
  • Be responsible for designing, developing and delivering a high-quality specialist clinical psychology neurorehabilitation service post stroke, including neuropsychological care pathways and treatment for mood and cognition difficulties.
  • Recruit Clinical Psychology staff for community neurorehabilitation services.
  • Provide line management of Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists and specialist neuropsychological clinical supervision.
  • Organise and provide professional leadership to Clinical and other Practitioner Psychologists, trainees, assistants, and placement students.
  • Provide expert leadership and supervision to MDT colleagues across all service areas regarding the neuropsychological impact of neurological conditions and their management.
  • Act as a teaching resource for local Clinical Psychology Training courses.
  • Use research skills for service evaluation, audit, policy and service development, and lead the assessment of the effectiveness of the neurorehabilitation teams using appropriate outcome measures and statistical analysis.
  • Present results to senior management and commissioning bodies and suggest innovations to enhance patient care.
