Job Summary

Are you a passionate Clinical Psychologist looking to work in a dynamic, forward‑thinking team where your expertise can truly change lives? We are seeking a motivated, compassionate professional to join our Children’s Psychological Health and Wellbeing Team, delivering specialist psychological care to children, young people and families with a wide range of complex needs—including those experiencing psychological distress related to health conditions or neuro‑divergence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist clinical psychology assessments of individuals, families or groups with complex needs, gathering information from a range of sources including psychometric testing, interview and observation.
  • Formulate, develop, deliver and manage highly specialised psychological interventions to individuals, families and groups, using evidence‑based therapeutic models.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and complex developmental factors.
  • Support the wider service through psychological consultation with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and psychosocial assessment and intervention for children and young people.
  • Contribute to service development, design, and improvement, and provide supervision and training to trainees and other professionals.
  • Participate in statutory processes such as EHAT and EHCP, and chair multi‑disciplinary meetings as required.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record‑keeping, electronic data entry, and comply with professional codes of practice and Trust policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, research, and audit activities within the department.
  • Collaborate with external agencies (e.g., CAMHS, social work, education) to promote psychological well‑being and evidence‑based practice for children and young people.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, covering psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, psychosocial assessment and at least two distinct psychological therapies, with accreditation by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration (or awaiting registration).
Person Specification
  • Demonstrable experience of complex, specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children and young people across multiple care settings.
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary team working and familiarity with NHS Agenda for Children and Young People, national directives, and governance.
  • Excellent time‑management, organisational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to conduct research, audit and evaluation; represent psychology within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Capacity to manage stressful environments, work independently and reflect on emotionally demanding situations.
  • Knowledge of psychometric assessment tools (e.g., WISC, WPPSI, developmental assessment).
Desirable: clinical experience in community or paediatric settings, computer literacy, and training or supervision experience.
