Supervisor Pre-Certification (Remote) - Otolaryngology
Join Washington University in St. Louis for a remote supervisory role focusing on the pre-certification and predetermination process within OTOLARYNXLOGY.
Position SummaryProvide supervision and oversight of daily operations for pre-certification and predetermination processes. Counsel patients and families on financial assistance options.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement and ensure adherence to policy and procedures to optimize pre-certification and minimize financial loss.
- Initiate and facilitate predetermination processes.
- Interact directly with patients regarding non-coverage and develop self-pay financial plans.
- Collaborate with faculty and clinical staff on self-pay pricing and financial coordination for patients.
- Ensure agreement with developed financial plans across involved departments.
- Monitor volumes through reporting to maintain appropriate staffing levels and adjust workloads.
- Resolve prior approval/pre-certification issues with major third-party carriers and discuss changes in program requirements.
- Participate in selection of new employees, training, supervising and evaluating staff; communicate changes in the department.
- Assist with coverage during staff illness or vacation.
- Provide operational oversight of operating room scheduling activities performed by pre-certification staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Epic surgical scheduling workflows to monitor case status and resolve scheduling or authorization issues.
- Coordinate with surgeons, clinic staff and perioperative services to align pre-certification status with OR scheduling timelines.
- Ensure consistent adherence to pre-certification and OR scheduling workflows to prevent delays, cancellations or financial risk.
- Assist in troubleshooting scheduling-related issues that impact authorization, financial clearance or surgical readiness.
- No specific academic degree, certification, or professional license required.
- Preferred:
Precertification and/or medical management experience. - Preferred:
Associate degree in a related field. - Preferred supervisory management skills.
Normal office environment, predominantly seated at a desk or table. Office equipment provided.
Salary$56,200.00 – $87,100.00 annually (Grade C11).
