Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist – Per Diem (Remote)
Adventist Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist to review, evaluate, and assess medical records ensuring compliance with coding requirements and documentation standards.
Job SummaryReview, evaluate, and assess medical records of patients for specificity of illness, documentation accuracy, coding requirements, and completeness. Work on moderate to diverse scope requiring interpretation of policies. Apply knowledge of techniques to complete routine and non‑routine assignments.
Job Requirements- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Three years' clinical experience (Required)
- Two years' clinical documentation experience (Required)
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner Certificate (DIP) – Required
- Current licensed RN, medical provider, or equivalent – Required
- Evaluate and assess medical records for specificity, accuracy, coding requirements, and completeness. Perform coding, DRG assignment, and enter all review activity into tracking software.
- Analyze and interpret medical records, formulate appropriate physician queries, and follow up on incomplete queries to obtain answers before discharge.
- Review quality of medical records, communicate conflicts, and convey deficiencies to departmental lead for resolution.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes, communicate updates, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Attend ongoing education sessions.
- Act as liaison between medical staff and coding department, ensuring clinical information is accurate and captures appropriate diagnosis and level of severity. Attend scheduled physician and care management meetings as requested.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
