Bromley Healthcare has provided relationships, sex and health education (RSHE) to secondary schools in Bromley for over 10 years.
This role involves delivery of the Your Choice Your Voice 9 RSHE programme to year 9 pupils across the Bromley and Bexley boroughs. The programme is delivered alongside other Relationship, Sex and Health Education Officers and a member of staff from the local Substance Misuse Agency.
The post holder will deliver education across a number of relationship and sexual health related topics, including healthy relationships, child sexual exploitation, body image, pregnancy, abortion, contraception and STIs.
There will be a requirement for the postholder to transport/handle equipment and materials for sessions requiring light physical effort.
The postholder may be exposed to emotional or distressing circumstances e.g. safeguarding concerns, on an occasional to frequent basis.
There is a requirement to travel across the Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.
Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will be required to deliver the prescribed Your Choice Your Voice (YCYV) RSHE sessions to Year 9 pupils in secondary schools across Bromley and Bexley boroughs. The programme is evaluated and therefore gathering feedback from teachers and pupils is important.
Each year the programme content is assessed and developed. The post holder would be expected to participate in this proposing improvements to our current approach and policy. Maintaining knowledge by keeping up to date with research, policies and guidance relating to RSHE as well as ongoing professional development and training is a requirement of the role.
Working within a pressurised environment with constant interruptions while maintaining professional standards in relation to communication with young people will be required.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training- Educated to a minimum of GCSE level qualification
- Some sexual health training or relevant experience (previous delivery of sessions with young people in schools or the community, ACET, Sex Education Forum or previous FPA training)
- PSHE delivery trained
- Proficient with mobile/remote working e.g. laptop, tablet, smartphone
- Experience of supporting and/or delivering RSHE interventions
- Experience of delivering training
- Experience/knowledge of recognising and following up on safeguarding concerns
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload
- Ability to present sensitive and occasionally contentious subjects with clarity, empathy and compassion
- Ability to manage barriers to understanding and acceptance for a diverse audience
- UK driving License & access to a vehicle for work purposes or access to local transport systems to travel across Bromley and Bexley
- Sound understanding of responsibilities and scope of role, including escalation and referral
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload
- Worked as part of a public health provider team
