Bromley Healthcare has provided relationships, sex and health education (RSHE) to secondary schools in Bromley for over 10 years.

This role involves delivery of the Your Choice Your Voice 9 RSHE programme to year 9 pupils across the Bromley and Bexley boroughs. The programme is delivered alongside other Relationship, Sex and Health Education Officers and a member of staff from the local Substance Misuse Agency.

The post holder will deliver education across a number of relationship and sexual health related topics, including healthy relationships, child sexual exploitation, body image, pregnancy, abortion, contraception and STIs.

There will be a requirement for the postholder to transport/handle equipment and materials for sessions requiring light physical effort.

The postholder may be exposed to emotional or distressing circumstances e.g. safeguarding concerns, on an occasional to frequent basis.

There is a requirement to travel across the Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be required to deliver the prescribed Your Choice Your Voice (YCYV) RSHE sessions to Year 9 pupils in secondary schools across Bromley and Bexley boroughs. The programme is evaluated and therefore gathering feedback from teachers and pupils is important.

Each year the programme content is assessed and developed. The post holder would be expected to participate in this proposing improvements to our current approach and policy. Maintaining knowledge by keeping up to date with research, policies and guidance relating to RSHE as well as ongoing professional development and training is a requirement of the role.

Working within a pressurised environment with constant interruptions while maintaining professional standards in relation to communication with young people will be required.
