Receive a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist position for a full‑time, day shift role in Woodbridge, VA! Sign‑On Bonus of $20,000 available for qualified candidates.
The schedule is five eight‑hour days. On‑call requirement is a minimum of eight shifts per month, including at least one weekend. Candidates must be within 30 minutes of the facility for on‑call requirements.
Department OverviewThe Cath Lab at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is a 50‑person team of monitor techs, cardiovascular invasive techs, registered nurses and patient care staff for additional support.
The team sees a mix of inpatient and outpatient cases with an average of 10 procedures per day. Heart and Vascular has three labs for EP, Cardiac and IR at SNVMC.
Primary responsibilities include acting as a first assistant to physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies. The Specialist operates and monitors advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment, ensures accurate data collection, and maintains a sterile environment throughout all procedures. They are responsible for patient preparation, real‑time monitoring, procedural documentation, and post‑procedure care coordination.
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist administers medication under the direction of a qualified physician; ensures compliance with all hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation standards; participates in on‑call rotation and responds rapidly to emergency cases, including STEMI activations; and contributes to ongoing quality assurance and process improvement initiatives in the cath lab.
ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Education- High School Graduate or Equivalent required
- A graduate of a diploma, associate, or bachelor’s health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.
- Trade school graduate preferred
- American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) REQUIRED
- BLS required
- ACLS required within 90 days of hire
- Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist or working in an invasive cardiac environment one year REQUIRED
- Medication administration experience preferred
- Specialty procedures experience preferred
- EP and Cardiac Cath experience preferred
- Sterile procedure experience preferred
