Grand Junction Regional Center - Office of Adult, Aging, and Disability Services

Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) is a collection of group homes serving adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who need additional support to stabilize and return to community residential settings. GJRC focuses on improving outcomes for individuals with IDD and promoting community integration. It has 10 homes throughout the Grand Valley neighborhoods, featuring warm, comfortable living spaces, private fenced backyards, and recreation equipment.

About the Position:

Health Care Service Trainees provide hands-on direct care to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include delivering quality healthcare, maintaining personal hygiene, achieving personal outcomes, and fostering a therapeutic environment in a home-like setting for up to 12 individuals.

Duties include:
  • Training in nursing skills, medication administration, disability theory and practice, human growth and development, behavior management, supports and services
  • Supporting individuals through behavior programs and positive redirection
  • Communicating with elderly or physically impaired individuals
  • Implementing infection control, safety, and emergency procedures
  • Preventing and reporting abuse and neglect
  • Providing daily living activities support, including meal prep, personal hygiene, social skills, recreation, housekeeping, laundry, safety, and transportation
  • Implementing individualized supports for behavior, social, recreation, work, and therapies

Conditions of Employment:
  • Background checks, including CBI name check, fingerprint, court databases, references, professional license verification, drug screening, PREA, Trails, CAPS
  • Availability to work any shift, any day, in any area
  • Valid US Driver License
  • TB test upon hire, vaccinations as required
  • Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, holidays
  • Ability to exert force/lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, reach
  • Must report to work to ensure safety and welfare
  • Former State employees with disciplinary history must disclose and explain prior termination or resignation
