Are you ready to make a real difference in people’s lives? We’re recruiting Qualified Ambulance Paramedics (QAP), Qualified Ambulance Technicians (QAT) and Newly Qualified Paramedics (NQP) to join our dedicated team across the stunning North Region of Scotland.
NQP who have applied to the Scottish Ambulance Service previously are invited to submit a new application for the locations given below.

- Inverurie – Qualified Technician or NQP
- Peterhead – Qualified Paramedic or NQP
- Bettyhill* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Dunvegan* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Fort Augustus* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Gairloch* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Glencoe* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Lochcarron* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Lochinver* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Thurso – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Strontian* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Tarbert* – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
- Stornoway – Qualified Paramedic, Technician or NQP
* Home-based on-call locations – you must live or have accommodation within a reasonable distance. This will be discussed at interview and with the recruiting manager.
About the RoleAs part of our team, you’ll provide immediate care to patients across the North of Scotland—often in challenging environments and at times when they need you most.
Roles include 24/7, on-call, home-based, or station-based positions.
Unsocial hours and/or on-call duties are part of the role.
Initially offered on a relief basis, meaning shift patterns vary and flexibility is essential.
Full-time (36 hours/week) and part-time applications welcome.
Salary- Qualified Technician: £33,247 – £41,424 per annum
- NQP: £33,247 rising to £41,608 after probation and completion of the Service’s NQP development programme, then up to £50,702 per annum
- Qualified Paramedic: £41,608 – £50,702 per annum
(Rates based on 2025/26 pay scales)
TrainingQualified Paramedics/Technicians may require a 2-week clinical induction and/or 4-week emergency driving course.
NQP: 6-week NQP course (including emergency driving) plus 12-month mentorship.
About YouHCPC registered Paramedic (qualified or newly qualified), or Ambulance Technician qualified in Diploma for Ambulance Technicians SCQF level 7 or equivalent.
Full UK driving licence with C1 category and no more than 4 penalty points.
Candidates must possess C1 on their licence at least 6 weeks prior to the course start date.
Flexibility on preferred locations is encouraged.
