Position: Band 6 nurse on Ward B2

Role Overview

As a Band 6 nurse on Ward B2 you will be responsible for the general co‑ordination of the ward including safe and efficient patient flow. You will be expected to lead by example, promoting a team‑working approach to help ensure that we consistently deliver high‑quality, safe and effective care.

Ward B2 is a busy 26‑bedded discharge ward providing care for patients with a range of chronic conditions, complex comorbidities and social concerns. We care for people who are medically optimised for discharge but are awaiting services in the community to aid discharge.

On B2 we value team‑working and recognise the positive impact this has on patient care and staff morale. Our team is hardworking, engaged and supportive, resulting in a positive workplace where staff are supported to continue learning and developing, and we continuously look for new ways to improve the care we deliver.

As the Band 6 nurse on Ward B2 you will coordinate the ward whilst also managing a small group of patients. Your duties will include tasks fundamental to ward‑based nursing such as obtaining vitals and administering medications as developed within your previous roles.

You will be expected to utilise excellent communication and leadership skills to maintain oversight of the ward. When required you will coordinate the efforts of staff to ensure that care is prioritised appropriately by the team and that discharges are facilitated in a timely, safe and effective manner.

As a Band 6 you will help to provide assurance that safety and quality of practice on the ward are being maintained by completing a number of Band 6 tasks, including daily checks, audits, reviews of staffing levels, PSIRF investigations and action plans.

You will be expected to have excellent problem‑solving skills, the ability to resolve conflict and the confidence to professionally challenge and escalat[e] any concerns you come across in a timely manner.

WHH holds a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you provided the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship, a minimum set of criteria must be met and not all roles are eligible. You can find more information on the Government website. Please review your eligibility and the eligibility of the role before submitting your application.
