Overview

Job Title: Consultant Sonographer (ECHO) – Subject Matter Expert

The ECHO Sonographer, Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the primary point of contact and technical resource for the CRO, the Sponsor, and clinical sites globally. This individual will ensure site level sonographer engagement and where applicable mapping of specific institutional processes, support to provide training and technical troubleshooting as needed with sites and collaborate closely with third-party readers to maintain high-quality echo cardiographic imaging standards across the study.

The SME will leverage deep expertise in echocardiography including familiarity with multiple makes/models of machines, ability to support protocol compliance, troubleshoot imaging related issues, and foster strong communication between stakeholders.

This is a remote
position with occasional travel for site training and support.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison between the CRO, Sponsor, clinical sites, and third-party imaging vendors.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on echocardiography protocols, imaging acquisition, and quality standards.
  • Develop and deliver virtual and on-site training programs for site sonographers to ensure continued engagement and compliance with study requirements.
  • Monitor site performance and imaging quality; provide feedback and corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with third-party readers to resolve technical or quality issues promptly.
  • Assist reviewing imaging manuals, training materials and any relevant project plans.
  • Support troubleshooting of imaging acquisition techniques at sites.
  • Participate in study start-up activities and site readiness assessments as related to ECHO.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of training, communications, and quality oversight activities.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance throughout the study lifecycle.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
  • RDCS or equivalent echocardiography certification required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical echocardiography experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in large institutions or hospital settings.
  • Familiarity with multiple makes/models of echocardiography machines.
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and imaging protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and imaging software platforms.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel occasionally for site training and monitoring.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate various global time zones.
  • Experience in regulated environments (GCP compliance) strongly preferred.

  • Technical expertise in echocardiography imaging and interpretation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence and educate site personnel effectively.
