We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join our multi-disciplinary Public Health Division in our Health Promotion team. This is a rare opening to join the Public Health team within the largest unitary local authority in the country and lead work that contributes to Birmingham being a bold city. The Public Health Division is engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of innovative work at a local, regional, national and international level.

About the Role

The Public Health Division works across the council plan and is responsible for providing strategic leadership to develop the council into a local authority that actively promotes population health. This will be achieved by being able to visualise and describe what a healthy Birmingham looks like and then equip others to share our vision and take action. We achieve this by championing the improved health and wellbeing of all citizens, but especially the most vulnerable.

Our vision is to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of Birmingham’s population by reducing inequalities in health and enabling people to help themselves.

We are looking for a Health Promotion specialist who will be able to apply a high level of knowledge and skill to support the wider Public Health team. This role will report to the Senior Programme Officer and support in the delivery of Public Health campaign across various channels. Birmingham has a growing reputation on an international stage for its role in responding to health inequalities and improving the lives of its citizens.

The Public Health Division has invested heavily in engagement and partnership working and demonstrated the importance of health promotion activity for health improvement information dissemination as a trusted source for partners and citizens.

This full-time position will be within the Deputy Director team focusing on our health promotion.
