To ensure continued provision of Public Health Nursing services within Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, we are recruiting a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) who can lead and support high-quality service delivery.
AboutThe Role
The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a national evidence-based, licensed programme forming the specialist level of the healthy child programme for young parents and their babies. The aim is to improve antenatal health, child health and development, and parental economic self-sufficiency in disadvantaged young families. FNP is voluntary for eligible clients and is offered in a strengths-based, trauma-informed way. It is offered to first-time parents;
fathers and partners are encouraged to participate.
The Family Nurse role delivers all aspects of the healthy child programme (HCP), focusing on fostering client self-efficacy, personal growth, and capacity for sensitive, responsive parenting. The role requires advanced specialist knowledge and skills underpinned by theoretical frameworks, clinical training and experience.
Required
The successful candidate will sit within the FNP team and work alongside health visitors, school nurses and skill mix practitioners. You will be expected to:
- Undertake specialist training in all elements of the FNP programme and achieve the family nurse competencies defined at national level, including mandatory training in motivational interviewing, dyadic observation, parental emotional connectedness, adolescent brain development, child development, human ecology, and attachment theory, with ongoing professional learning and reflective supervision.
